How to (re)start practicing?

We all go through periods during which it's hard to practice - I'm certainly no exception. Here are four basic but helpful tips that have helped me a lot!

Tip 1: Practice something you like! It's no fun practicing a piece you're not excited about.

Tip 2: Practice for a short amount of time. Is 20 mins too much to handle right now? Try 10. How about 5? Or even 2? As soon as you start having fun, you'll naturally do more anyway.

Tip 3: Play something you've played before. It's less difficult than pushing through something completely new, and you might have new ideas about it.

Tip 4: Tell your family members to encourage you to practice if they see you wandering around looking for something to do. The gentlest of reminders can sometimes do the trick.
